Workplace Harassment & Rights

A calm first step for a Vermont worker. No typing of names, employer names, case details, medical, immigration, or police information — and nothing is uploaded or sent.

Safety first

If you are in immediate physical danger, being threatened, assaulted, or stalked, call 911. For sexual assault, you can reach a confidential advocate through the existing Sexual Assault page and HOPE Works. This app is not emergency care and is not legal advice.

What is happening?

Pick the closest one. Your choice stays on this device — it is not saved, sent, or tracked.

Save what happened — privately

A clear record helps an agency or advocate help you. Check each item as you gather it. This list lives only on your screen — it is not saved to this app or sent anywhere.

Safety with records: Don't keep notes on an employer-controlled phone or computer if that could be unsafe — use a personal device. Don't secretly record anyone unless you've checked the law first. Do not upload evidence to this app — nothing here is saved or sent.

Deadlines can be short

Official sources say most federal discrimination claims in Vermont generally must be filed within 300 days. Vermont safety-retaliation complaints may have a 30-day deadline. Vermont wage claims generally cannot cover wages more than two years overdue. Contact the appropriate agency promptly because deadlines vary. This is not legal advice.

If you face retaliation

Some workplace reports and complaints may be protected by law. Protections depend on the facts and the type of report. If you face punishment after reporting, document the new actions and contact the appropriate agency promptly. You can send this in writing to your employer or HR:

Optional script — read aloud or copy

"I am reporting conduct I believe may violate workplace policy or discrimination/safety rules. Please confirm you received this and explain the next steps."
